UPDATED: Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, Android 4.3 Key Lime Pie?

Now what are you doing there, Candy Cane?
The guys over at Slashgear think they've found out what the next version of Google Android will be named! Ever since Android 2.3 Gingerbread, there's this easter egg where if you keep tapping your android version, and holding the picture will give this cool animation!
However, in the animation on Jelly Bean, there appears to be a Candy Cane floating with the masses - but that won't follow the naming scheme!

The names of Android versions have always been food, in alphabetical order:

  • Cupcake
  • Donut
  • Eclair
  • Froyo
  • Gingerbread
  • Honeycomb
  • Ice Cream Sandwich
  • Jelly Bean
Candy Cane won't fit - unless it's Kandy Cane or Kandy Kane! Does this hint that the new version will be released around Christmas? We'll have to wait and see!

Why is Google so obsessed with food? Omnomnom

However, the guys at The Verge allege that it will be named Key Lime Pie, after a reliable source tipped them off (who also told them about Jelly Bean).

Wait to see who's right - might even be you!

EDIT (29 October 2012): So - Google decided not to change the name of Android 4.2 and decided to call it the same as its predecessor - Jelly Bean! So, what will Android 4.3 be called?
